FDA Approves OTC Tylenol and Naproxen Combination for Pain Relief
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 24 approved the non-prescription combination dosage of 650 mg of Tylenol (acetaminophen) and 220 mg of naproxen sodium (NSAID) in a single pill for 12-hour pain relief. This nonprescription product is indicated for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains due to headache, backache, muscular aches, toothache, menstrual cramps, and minor pain of arthritis in adults and children 12 years and older. Study Shows Good Oral Hygiene May Reduce Stroke Risk
A population-based retrospective cohort study published July 4 in the Journal of Dentistry showed evidence that frequent toothbrushing combined with regular use of dental floss and interdental brushes was associated with a reduced risk of ischemic stroke. CMS Calling on States to Restrict Amalgam Coverage

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on July 22 that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) sent an email to state Medicaid directors strongly urging them to restrict or end coverage for dental amalgam restorations.
