OSHA Poster on How to Don/Doff Mask – Infection Control

Federal OSHAOSHA releases a new video and poster that demonstrates how to don and doff a respirator correctly at work. The guidance includes seal check procedures to ensure that there is no leakage. The seven steps with depictions include:

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Inspect the respirator
  3. Put on the respirator
  4. Adjust the respirator
  5. Wear the respirator
  6. Remove the respirator
  7. Dispose of the respirator

A seal-check is a procedure that is performed to confirm that a tight-fitting respirator, including N95 mask, is adequately sealed against the face of the wearer. Each wearer of this type of mask must perform a seal checkwhenever a tight-fitting respirator is donned. For more information on OSHA’s respiratory protection requirements for N95 masks, please refer to our blog.
