Dental Board of CA Reminder: Compliance Date for Electronic Prescribing Fast Approaching

The Dental Board of California (DBC) recently sent out an email reminder to licensees, reminding them that “beginning January 1, 2022, all prescriptions issued by a licensed healthcare practitioner to a California pharmacy must be submitted electronically.” Under Assembly Bill 2789, which took effect in 2018, electronic prescribing becomes mandatory in less than 3 months; by January 2022, all healthcare practitioners authorized to issue prescriptions must be able to electronically transmit prescriptions for both controlled and non-controlled substances.
