Amalgam Separator Rule Part of Government Freeze
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), the White House’s memorandum dated January 20, 2017, to freeze all or new pending regulations includes the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) final rule, which would require dental offices to install amalgam separators.
The freeze applies to all new regulations, including final ones that have been sent to the Federal Register, but have not yet been published, of which the Amalgam Separator rule is one. According to the memorandum, such regulations will be withdrawn according to Federal Register procedures, “until a department or agency head appointed or designated by the President after noon on January 20, 2017, reviews and approves the regulation.”
