HHS Announces Updated COVID-19 Booster Doses to be Available this Fall

On July 29, 2022, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a joint collaboration with the US Department of Defense to procure and make available reformulated COVID-19 vaccines to target circulating Omicron subvariants. Updated Moderna and Pfizer booster shots are expected to be available by early fall, pending authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and a recommendation by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Once the boosters become available, individuals may consider getting one following an appropriate interval following their most recent dose.
