The July/August issue of OSHA Review, providing an update on HIPAA requirements, has been mailed. Enclosed with the issue is an informational document that answers dentists frequently asked questions about HIPAA. Note this issue is worth 2 CE credits toward your license renewal.

The HIPAA Omnibus Rule, which combines the requirements of HIPAA and HITECH into one comprehensive rule, requires covered entities, including business associates, to secure patients’ protected health information. This issue details the new Rule. Additionally, updated HIPAA docs – template HIPAA Plan, Notice of Privacy Policy, breach notification documentation, and HIPAA checklist – can be downloaded from OSHA Review’s website.
