CA Only: No More Employee Name Display, but Licenses/Permits/Registrations Must be Posted
In September 2024, California Senate Bill (SB) 1453, the Dental Board of California’s (DBC’s) sunset review bill, was chaptered into California law. Among other things, this bill amended to Section 1700(c) of the California Dental Practice Act. Previously, the law stated that the name of each and every person employed in the practice of dentistry must be conspicuously displayed in the office. This name display is no longer required.
The law now requires that the original or copy of the current license, permit, or registration of each person employed at the facility to practice dentistry must be displayed in the office in an area that is likely to be seen by all patients. Therefore, we recommend that all dental offices in California post all of their employees’ current licenses, permits, and/or registrations pertaining to the practice of dentistry. These should be displayed in locations likely to be seen by patients.
