CA Only: DBC Notifies CS Dispensers to be Ready for CURES Update
The Dental Board of California (DBC) recently announced that beginning August 1, 2024, all California dispensers of controlled substances (CS) will be required to report dispensations to an updated version of the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES). On and after this date, dispensing data submitted using the current CURES version (4.1 format) will no longer be accepted.
According to the DBC’s announcement, “prompt action by licensees who dispense controlled substances is recommended, as technical implementation of this update to data submission software may take considerable time. Contact your data submission software provider and confirm they are preparing for this upcoming version change.”
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has shared information about the format change and suggested action steps for data submitters. Please refer to the OAG’s CURES website or the DBC for additional information.
