California Only: New Requirement for Dispensers of Controlled Substances
According to a recent letter, dated December 9, 2021, sent to by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) to all dispensers of controlled substances (CS) in California, the DOJ is transitioning its prescription data collection services for the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) to Bamboo Health, from the current vendor Atlantic Associates, Inc.
The letter states that, beginning on January 1, 2022, all CS dispensers in California “that currently submit prescription dispensation data to Atlantic Associates, Inc. – www.aaicures.com – will need to register with the Bamboo Health PMP Clearinghouse.” Effective February 9, 2022, all reporting must be made through the PMP Clearinghouse system. The last day for sending data to Atlantic Associates, Inc. is February 8, 2022. CS dispensers can expect to receive further instructions from the DOJ and/or Bamboo Health, including a Data Submission Guide for Dispensers for the new PMP Clearinghouse system. This guide will walk CS dispensers through registering for the new system and setting up an account for data submission.
Additional details about “action steps” for CS dispensers to take can be found in the DOJ letter. CS dispensers who have questions may contact Bamboo Health at 855-502-0999 or may submit a ticket at the PMP Clearinghouse Support Center.
