OSHA Poster on How to Don/Doff Mask – Infection Control
OSHA releases a new video and poster that demonstrates how to don and doff a respirator correctly at work. The guidance includes seal check procedures to ensure that there is no leakage. The seven steps with depictions include:
- Wash your hands
- Inspect the respirator
- Put on the respirator
- Adjust the respirator
- Wear the respirator
- Remove the respirator
- Dispose of the respirator
A seal-check is a procedure that is performed to confirm that a tight-fitting respirator, including N95 mask, is adequately sealed against the face of the wearer. Each wearer of this type of mask must perform a seal checkwhenever a tight-fitting respirator is donned.
