Surgeon General Issues Opioid Plea to Healthcare Providers

For the first time in 145 years, the United States Surgeon General issued a plea specifically to healthcare providers calling them to action, and urging them to help end the country’s opioid epidemic. The call-to-action letter was published in the November 9^th edition of the New England Journal of Medicine, and is part of a larger campaign called Turn the Tide Rx that includes an online pledge for clinicians, educational resources, and an online forum for healthcare professionals to share experiences about how to address opioid misuse and abuse.
