Don’t Forget to Wear Your PPE During Chemical Handling

Both OSHA and state dental boards require dental personnel to adhere to infection control standards in the office, including the use personal protective equipment (PPE). Most people know what should be worn to protect themselves from bodily fluids – exam gloves, protective attire, eye protection, and facemasks. 

But what about chemicals in the office? Many hazardous chemicals are used in dentistry, which can pose as exposure risks to employees if they are not protected. Donning chemical-resistant PPE, including safety eyewear or faceshield, and chemical-resistant utility gloves and apron, is an important safe chemical handling practice.
