DCA Extends CA Dental Licensees CE and Examination Waiver
On June 3, 2021, the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) issued a new order, DCA-21-152, waiving license renewal requirements for dental professionals. This order extends the waiver for dental license renewal requirements six more months, until December 3, 2021. For individuals whose active licenses expire between March 31, 2020, and July 31, 2021, the DCA temporarily waives:
- any statutory or regulatory requirement that individuals renewing a license in California take and pass an examination in order to renew a license; and,
- any statutory or regulatory requirement that an individual renewing a license in California complete, or demonstrate compliance with, any continuing education requirements in order to renew a license.
Note from the DCA: This temporary waiver does not apply to any continuing education, training, or examination required as part of a disciplinary order against a licensee. Dental licensees must satisfy any waived renewal requirements within six months of this order, unless further extended. These temporary waivers do not relieve individuals from complying with any other renewal requirements, including completing and submitting the required renewal forms to the Dental Board of California.
