First Aid Kit for California Dental Personnel

Under Title 8 California Code of Regulations Section 3400, Cal/OSHA requires that “there shall be adequate first-aid materials, approved by the consulting physician, readily available for workmen on every job.” This means that the contents of basic first aid kits for dental personnel, including those purchased from dental supply companies, must be reviewed for appropriateness by a physician.

Therefore, to meet Cal/OSHA’s requirement for employee first aid kits, dental offices must consult with a physician for recommended dental employee first aid supplies.

For our OSHA Review subscribers… Refer to your written Injury and Illness Prevention (IIP) Program in Section I of your OSHA Review binder for a list of physician-recommended first aid supplies for dental personnel.
