Time for the Annual Safety Review – OSHA Compliance
With the end of the year drawing near, as we prepare to usher in 2018, December is a good time to review and evaluate office safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance and their effectiveness. Using a safety assessment checklist provides a systematic method for the evaluation.
- All required/recommended written safety plans and operating instructions in the office should be reviewed and updated as needed, with employee input.
- Office training program(s) and recordkeeping should be completed for the year.
- An annual safety walk-through should be conducted, with corrective action taken for any identified discrepancies.
Creating and maintaining a safe dental workplace requires diligence and constant oversight, and it is in the best interest of every dental employer to ensure that office policies promote safety and are effective.
